Dear Editor,
When one watches high level press conferences and briefings from around the world, there is a distinct display of class shown by those hosting these events, particularly those responsible for the related protocol. These highly regarded individuals are well received and respected by those who attend the fora.
Arguably, the same does not exist here, and Office of the President (OP)’s Press and Publicity Officer, Kwame McCoy, who quite amusingly is a law unto himself, is as they say in Guyana, “Chief Cook and Bottle Washer”.
When one reads of McCoy’s continued rejection of certain media operatives attempting to access important press conferences at the Office of the President (oftentimes without the knowledge of those above him) it is clear that it represents the highpoint in his career.
It’s like the gateman at the bottom-house dance or the bouncer at the popular night club – a power unto all!
McCoy’s disrespect for those whom he perceives to be below him is palpable. His bosses seem… sorry, are incapable of reining him in. One wonders what his status at OP really is!
Whatever it is, the fact that he is able to wield so much power speaks volumes about OP.
