Assalam O Alaikum wa Rahmatu Laahi wa Barakatu.
May the peace, mercy and blessings of ALLAH SA be with you all.
Today as we face a rapidly changing world dominated by man’s inhumanity to man. Where might is right and the poor are taken advantage of by the rich, where women and children are abused and we witness daily the senseless acts of war, where innocent people are killed in large numbers in the name of fighting terrorism, we must ask ourselves, are we better off today or more advanced than our ancestors? The answer is simply, No.
Fourteen hundred and thirty years ago God Almighty, ALLAH SA sent the Prophet Muhammad (owbp) and in a period of twenty-three years, he was able to change the conditions of his society which were similar in almost every respect to the one we are living in presently. He did this with the message of the Quran and his beautiful conduct of living.
Each year, Muslims all over the world celebrate with joy, the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (owbp) and this celebration of the Prophet’s birthday is known to Muslims as Eid Milad un Nabi or Youman Nabi.
In Guyana and many countries in Africa, the Middle East and the Far East the 12th of Rabi’ al-Awwal is a national holiday.
The Prophet’s life and his conduct have become a model on which every Muslim aspires to build his life according to the situation in which he finds himself, as ALLAH SA says in the Holy Our’an:
“Verily, in the apostle of God you have a good example for everyone who looks forward (with hope and awe) to God and the Last Day and remembers God unceasingly.”(Sura Al-Azhab 33:21)
In spite of his appointment as the Prophet (Nabi) of ALLAH SA, Muhammad (owbp) never claimed to possess any superhuman qualities. He maintained that he was a mortal and a servant (‘abd) of ALLAH SA to whom revelation (wahi) came, as it is indicated in the Holy Our’an. .
He knew that his role was to be the messenger (Rasul) and mediator of ALLAH SA in guiding mankind. It is important to note that even in this function of acting as a guide; he reminded the people that the only true guidance came from ALLAH, SA
“Verily, thou cannot guide aright everyone whom thou lovest: but it is Allah who guides him that wills (to be guided); and He is fuIly aware of all who would let themselves be guided.”
(Sura Al-Qasas 28: Verse 56)
It can be understood from this that ALLAH’s guidance is an act of His grace with which HE rewards all who desire to be guided. The Prophet (o.w.b.p.) preached exactly that whatever happened to him was nothing but ALLAH’s unbounded grace and, through this act of mercy and kindness, he was appointed to be a guide amongst the people.
He never boasted of his exalted position as it is indicated in the Holy Our’an. As ALLAH SA “taught Adam the names of all things”, ALLAH, taught Muhammad (owbp) the Qur’ an.
The designation of the Prophet as being ‘Mercy for the mankind’ (Rahmat lil-alamin) is another example of his lofty post. He saw his role amongst his people as their guide and teacher and by his example was to steer them to salvation. Whoever followed him, and his way of life, understood their purpose and meaning of their existence in the world.
Unfortunately the life of the Prophet (owbp) has been misunderstood by non-Muslims. His function was not only to be a spiritual guide but also the organizer of the new social order, which came as a result of the last revelation (the Holy Quran).
The greatest living miracle of the Holy Prophet (Sallallaho alaihe wasallam) is the Holy Quran which remains today, the only revealed scripture sent by God that is unchanged since its revelation.
On the occasion of the birth anniversary the Holy Prophet Muhammad, the Central Islamic Organisation Of Guyana calls on all Guyanese to reflect on the message of the Holy Quran and the numerous examples left by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (owbp). By doing this we would be able to change our lives and be successful in this life and in the life to come.

People’s Progressive Party
The People’s Progressive Party extends best wishes to the Muslim community specifically, and to all Guyanese, on the occasion of Youman Nabi.
This date marks the Birth anniversary of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.
This holiday is taking place at a time when the world is experiencing profound changes. At this time no where more than the Middle East, the region from which Islam originated.
No doubt the changes that are taking place there, which mainly involve Muslims, demonstrate the profound feeling of justice that is embodied in that great religion. The movement that removed Mubarak in Egypt after thirty years is indeed rooted in the people. It also reflects a unity of a people rarely seen.
The eyes of the world are today focused on that important Region of the world. We have every confidence that justice, democracy and will triumph over the ills of dictatorship and oppression.
This movement can also lead to resolving the most important problem of the area, that is, freedom and justice for the Palestinian people. We will continue to follow the situation closely. Once again, best wishes to all on Youman Nabi.

People’s National Congress Reform
The People’s National Congress Reform extends sincere greetings to all Guyanese, more particularly, to our Muslim brothers and sisters and to the Muslim community throughout the world, on the significant occasion of Youman Nabi, the birth anniversary of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (On Whom Be Peace).
The Party takes particular note of the fact that the Holy Prophet Muhammad (On Whom Be Peace) has left the legacy of a religion that is universal in scope and purpose, which espouses an end to human suffering, disease and poverty. More particularly, this legacy is consistent with the promotion of peace and harmony that is so in our country and the rest of the world.
As we reflect on the significance of this Holy Observance, the PNCR urges all Guyanese to internalize the message and lessons of the doctrines of this great religion and use them as important instruments for improving our society. In so doing, we can also resolve to work for the creation of conditions for racial harmony, peace and the genuine development in Guyana.
Again, Youman Nabi Greetings to all.

Guyana Agricultural and General Workers Union (GAWU)
Messages such as these annual greetings are intended to express, even demonstrate our Union’s recognition, solidarity and joy with respect to the observance and/or celebration by the nation or some group.
Youman Nabi, the prayerful joyful celebration of the Birth of their Prophet Muhammad by the nation’s Islamic community, is one such occasion which obliges the Guyana Agricultural and General Workers Union (GAWU) to send its warmest greetings to our Muslim brothers and sisters.
GAWU this year limits its sentiments to just two aspects of the Holy Prophet which we think should be embraced by the followers who in turn should by their daily deeds influence appropriate behaviours by their fellow Guyanese. Firstly, the Muslim Holy Records show that the Prophet as exemplified by the celebration of Youman Nabi, teaches us that we share A COMMON HUMANITY. What better than that do we need to understand that we should work together, even after shelving or sorting out differences, as a nation to achieve a common good.
Secondly, the Prophet preached and taught relentlessly, the combined message of peace, love, compassion and humanity. In their manifestation, this advice is a formula for fighting poverty, injustice and oppression. That is universal in its theme.
Especially in this period in modern Middle Eastern history, the observance of the Prophet’s birth should also remind us that the people of any nation hold the key to the achievement of justice and progress. Spiritual guidance leads to practical applications where the will of the people in their own interest, will eventually prevail.
Guyana’s Islamic Community certainly realizes, by now, that the rights and freedom to observe and practice their beliefs, unhindered by any selfish, tribal injunctions, attest, at the minimum, to the peace we all share here.
Let peace promote progress! Let the spirit of Youman Nabi infuse all Muslims to inspire all other Guyanese to heights of love and achievement.
