– Nine more matches on this evening
The Linden/Georgetown bus park was the place to be last weekend as the Young Achievers 20/20 Sports Bar kicked off their Stag Beer Inter-ward street football.
18 teams were on show Sunday last with all having a common goal of claiming the tournament’s first prize of $200,000 but like the age old saying goes “many are called, but few are chosen”.
“It seems like we will have to hold the finals at the National Park, because its not looking like no venue in Linden can take off the crowd,” Organiser Anthony White joked, speaking about the large crowd that gathered to witness the sending home of nine teams from the tournament.
Some of the games local stars in Linden, turned out in full force to represent their respective communities and tonight, playing at the same venue, more excitement is being promised.
In the opening game from 4:30 pm, Mines United will face Hill Top/West Watooka Rockers, Christianburg All-Stars are down to square off against Silvertown Bullets and Excitement Boys#2 coming up against Topp Class in some of highlighted matches.
Second place finishers will pocket $100,000 while third place gets $50,000. The tournament is being sponsored by Ansa McAl under their Stag Beer Brand.
Results from the opening night are as followed:
– Constab Celebrity 2 def. World Access All-Stars 1
– 100 Cars 2 def. Excitement Boys 1
