Not everyone is an enemy of the police—at least not a public-spirited citizen who returned a gun that was lost by a policeman last week.
Kaieteur News understands that the citizen claimed that he found the weapon on the street.
This newspaper was unable to ascertain exactly where the weapon was found.
A week ago a police rank attached to the Tactical Services motorcycle patrol reported that he lost his weapon after falling from his motorcycle near the Vendor’s Arcade. Several persons who operate in that vicinity were detained and questioned, while the cop was placed under close arrest.
Initially the police received word that a drug addict had picked up the weapon and several police units were deployed to hunt him down.
This newspaper was told that with the weapon now recovered, the cop who lost it would only face disciplinary charges. However he is reportedly back patrolling on the street with another weapon.
