The consistent Alonzo Greaves stormed to a convincing win in the feature 35-lap school boys and invitational race at the National Park yesterday when the National Sports Commission sponsored Mashramani National Park Cycle Meet came off.
Greaves’ winning time of 1 hour 17 minutes 58.42 seconds was faster than the season opening 1 hour 20 minutes 32 seconds for the same event which was won by 18-year-old Paul De Nobrega ahead of Greaves, the previous weekend.
The Roraima Bikers member finished ahead of Turhan Harris, Robin Persaud, Geron Williams, Eric Sankar and Kurt La Rose.
Greaves, Harris, Persaud and Williams led from lap 16 until the end with the quartet sharing the work between them as they maintained a healthy lead over the rest of the field, which they lapped with four (4) laps remaining. Dexter Wilson was again the best in the upright race which was also contested over 5-laps, Akeem Wilkinson and Andre Petty followed Wilson to the line in that order.
The over-50 event produced another win for Lancelot Rose with Monty Parris second.

When the juvenile 10-lap duel was completed in 23 minutes 48 seconds, faster than the previous weekend (24’ 11″), Leon Haynes crossed the line leaving Marlon King and Michael Anthony behind.
The 12-14 boys and girl’s event saw Rawle Leah pedaling to victory over Hazina Barrett and Marica Dick.
