After her three-year-old son was sodomised several weeks ago by his teen neighbour; the mother of the child had declared that she is “fed up” with the “royal run around” ranks at the Beterverwagting Police Station have been giving her.
The woman stated that every time she attempts to inquire about the development into the investigation, officers have been treating her with hostility.
She said that it had been more than three weeks since her child was sexual molested and up to now the police are yet to charge the teen who allegedly committed the act. Assistant Commissioner of ‘C’ Division, Gavin Primo, in a recent interview, mentioned that the file that was sent to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for advice had since return and the charge was to be instituted since last Monday. But that does not seem to be the case because the teen had never been summoned.
The child’s mother said that she fears that justice will not serve as a result of the teen’s mother being an Education Officer. “Look how many children were molested after my child and those perpetrators had already been placed before the court…what makes my baby case so different from the others, if he is brave to trouble my son let him face the consequence” added the woman who was fighting to hold back tears.
According to reports, the teen who allegedly committed the illegal act has since been admitted back to school after being placed in custody for a few minutes.
Nevertheless, the child ‘s mother has voiced her unhappiness over the lengthy period the police are taking to charge the suspect.
She also accused the police of carrying out “sloppy investigation” into the incident.
The child has since been receiving treatments for a sexual transmitted disease he contracted after being molested.
The Ministry of Human Services and Social Security, child care department has since been offering regular counseling to the molested child.
Child Care executive Ann Green in an earlier report, told Kaieteur News that her office is not condoning sexual assault on minors.
Green, commenting of the case of the molested three year-old, stated that she cannot see why the police cannot complete their investigation in order to prosecute the perpetrator.
Citing the fact that her Ministry had already played its part, the rest is left to the police. Calls made to Assistant Commissioner Gavin Primo, yesterday to have an update on the allegation, proved futile.
