A new executive to conduct the affairs of the Guyana Netball Association (GNA) will be elected when the various clubs cast their ballots for the next dispensation on Sunday February 27. When activities get underway from 14:00hrs on that day, a new President and General Secretary will emerge from the process as incumbent President Dr Maxine Parris-Aaron and Secretary Lawrence Griffith have indicated that they will not be seeking re election. They both cited pressing family and other commitments as the reason for their decisions.
In the run up to these elections clubs are reminded to get their affairs in order by firstly paying their annual membership dues on or before the date of the AGM. Each club will be allowed three voting members who must be properly attired with their club jersey and a dark colored bottom. Clubs are also required to submit the list of members to the treasurer by Friday February 11 (today) along with proof of their date of birth, the club’s official postage address and the respective telephone numbers and email addresses of all executives.
Executives have signaled an intention to participate in the Caribbean Netball Association Annual Jean Pierre 16 and Under Competition scheduled to be held in St Kitts from April 8-17. Plans are also in train participate in the Barbados Commercial Tournament for Senior Players scheduled for September. Executives of the respective clubs are urged to send representation of their best junior players to a meeting on Friday February 11. Senior players would be facilitated at a similar meeting on Friday February 18. Activities would be held at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
