Incessant rainfall from Wednesday night to yesterday morning forced a cancellation of proceedings at two Magistrate’s Courts in the city.
Magistrates Geeta Chandan-Edmonds and Chandra Sohan, presiding in Courts 10 and Seven respectively, had to give new dates for matters that were scheduled for yesterday, due to the flooded compound that prevented persons from accessing the court rooms.
While Magistrate Sohan managed to make it into his courtroom, Magistrate Chandan-Edmonds was forced to sit in her car and communicate her decision to postpone matters before her to the Prosecutor who also could not access the court room.
Her decision to postpone all of yesterday’s matters to March 1, was then communicated to persons involved who were forced to stand on Croal Street.
