“Fatboy” sentencing postponed

– Probation report not ready

Sentencing has been postponed in the case of 32-year-old Taijpaul Nankishore called “Fatboy”, since the probation report which was ordered had not been completed.
The Foulis, East Coast Demerara resident is before the court for the death of his younger brother, Seepaul Nankishore called Ramesh, on May 7, 2008. On the last occasion, Taijpaul Nankishore had pleaded guilty to manslaughter and told the court that he was under the influence of alcohol when the incident happened.
The defendant expressed remorse for what he had done and begged the Court to be lenient with his sentencing.
Because of the circumstances of the case, the DPP’s Chambers and the Court accepted the plea and requested a probation report which was applied for by defence counsel, Clarissa Riehl.
The state is being represented by Prosecutor Konyo Sandiford. The matter is being presided before Justice Winston Patterson. Sentencing has been postponed to February 17.
It is said that the two brothers were gambling on the morning of May 7th, 2008, when the younger brother who lost the game and $60, snatched the money from his older brother and cuffed him in the process. Taijpaul Nankishore then reportedly broke a bottle which was on a table and slashed his brother to the neck.
