Three men are in police custody following the brazen robbery at the Beauty and Home System on Camp Street yesterday midday during which Daniel Joseph was robbed of $1.3 M.
According to a police press release the money was in an envelope when Daniels and two employees were attempting to enter a vehicle, when the guntoting bandits pounced.
The release further stated that the perpetrators ran towards Lamaha Street, and were picked up by a waiting taxi HB 663, and escaped.
However quick response by the Police anti crime unit along with mobile patrols led to the capture of the bandits.
According to the police, ranks from the Tactical Services Unit intercepted the vehicle at Cemetery Road.
Further the source said that the three men attempted to run away when they realized that the police were behind them.
This newspaper was told that one of the three occupants in the vehicle fired a shot at the police.
Sources close to the police yesterday told Kaieteur News that one of the bandits, Joel David, lives at Walker Terrace La Penitence. He was arrested in his home along with two other persons.
Furthermore this newspaper was told that an unlicenced 9mm pistol along with 16 rounds of matching ammunition was found.
Also found was the money which was in an envelope. It was found in a nearby gutter.
Louisa James who is an amputee said that she was very displeased with the way the police searched her home.
According to James her son lives next door to her, but instead of the police searching her son’s house alone they searched hers too.
The woman told Kaieteur News that the police were very abusive to her and prevented her from entering her home.
“They break up meh new brand wheelchair. Who gun buy that back? The police don’t buy back nothing fa nobody,” the old woman said.
