West Indies female cricketer and captain of Rose Hall Town Metro team Shemaine Campbelle produced another brilliant all-round effort to lead her team to a thrilling one wicket win over the Police Sports Club Female team in a specially arranged match at the Area ‘H’ Ground.
The match was arranged by the Cricket Development Committee of the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports and at stake was the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club Trophy.
Batting first after winning the toss, Police were bowled out for a competitive 166 in 33 of their allotted 35 overs.
National player Shinead Emerson top scored with a well played 56 which included six boundaries. She received support from Akeze Thompson and Nicola Leacock with 16 each, West Indies player June Ogle Thomas made 15. Extras contributed a healthy 42.
Thirteen year-old off spinner Phaffiana Millington led the bowling with 4 for 15, Erva Giddings 2 for 24 and Campbelle 2 for 33 as Rose Hall Town Metro, the national champions responded with 167 for 9 off 27.3 overs.
Campbelle guided the way with a well carved out 65 that was decorated with 12 spanking fours.
Contributing also with the bat were national opener Melanie Henry 21, Natasha Gangoo 15, Tessa Park 13 and Jacquelin Singh 12. Extras accounted for 24.
Bowling for Police, Jocell Joseph took 2 for 6 and Onika Wallerson 2 for 33.
