Nursery school teacher’s reputed husband charged with murder

Rudolph London, whose reputed wife succumbed to injuries from a brutal cutlass beating, has now been charged with murder and is to appear in court today.
A senior police official told Kaieteur News that London is to face the new charge in the Vreed-en-Hoop Magistrate’s Court.
London was initially charged on January 7 with the attempted murder of his reputed wife, nursery school teacher Shaunell Warwick. The unrepresented accused was remanded by Magistrate Nyasha Williams-Hatmin.
At the time, Warrick was in an unconscious state in the Georgetown Hospital. She passed away on January 31.
The charge against London was that on New Year’s Day, at Best Village, West Coast Demerara, the accused, while armed with a cutlass, unlawfully and maliciously wounded Warrick with the intent to murder her.
During that hearing, Magistrate Williams-Hatmin had questioned the prosecutor about the extent of the victim’s injuries only to have London blurt out, “I didn’t chop her. Is broadside I broadside her, my worship.”
London’s mother had told the Magistrate that her son is suffering from a mental breakdown and requested that he be seen by a specialist.
London had surrendered to police after being on the run for several days.
