A number of sponsors have already come on board to be a part of the Rising Sun Turf club Pre Mashramani one day horserace meet slated for Sunday February 20 at the Club’s entity Arima Park, West Coast Berbice.
With nine races on the programme, a pack and compact day of racing is anticipated as all the animals have been catered for. With less than two weeks to go before race day a number of animals have already been entered for the day’s action which is expected to be riveting.
Over 50 animals have been entered so far. Incentives totaling over $3.5M in cash and trophies are up for grabs during the days programme.
Beverage giants Banks DIH limited headlines the list of sponsors that have come on board so far with Telephone giants Digicel, Jumbo Jet Auto Sales, Cummings Electrical, Romell Jagroop Construction, Chester Fry Chicken of Bush Lot, West Coast Berbice, Hablaw’s meat Centre, Dalip Trading, Toucan Industries and Poultry supplies and Businessman Ramesh Sunich of the Trophy Stall, Bourda Market are some of the business supporting so far.
The feature event is for B class horses and is once again being sponsored by Banks DIH Limited over 1300M, which incidentally is the distance for all of the races. With prize money totaling close to $1M and the Banks DIH Trophy, Turfites can expect a ding dong battle among leading horses Prince Charming, Night Crescendo and Marathon man all recent winners.
They will be looking for their far share of luck to hold back the challenges of Wad A luck, Gullium, Miss Orientate and Delmur Gold among others in their gold medal quest for the top money worth $450,000 and trophy.
Horses such as Sabrina Joy, Princess Yasmin and Better than Gold are among those entered for the three year event for animals Bred and Born in Guyana and the West Indies which has a winning prize tag of $250,000.
The other three year old event for horses bred and born in Guyana has a top-notch line up which includes Super Cat, Wicked Intention, Apostle, Royal Salute, Million Dollar Man, with the winner’s money set at $200,000 and trophy.
The other events on the day’s programme are the E Class event with $180,000 and trophy for the winner.
The G and lower showdown will see the top animal receiving $150,000 and trophy, the H class with the winner’s prize being $140,000 and trophy, the ‘I’ and lower event will see the winner carting off $130, 00and trophy.
There is an event for animals classified I3 and lower and those with one win. The winner will run away with $120,000 and a trophy.
The other event on the days programme is for horses classified K and lower and will see the winner receiving $90,000 and a trophy.
Top Individual performers including champion jockey, champion trainer and champion stable will all receive trophies among other prizes.
