A man is currently in police custody after he attacked a sales clerk who was about to enter his place of employment, Narine’s Trading, Regent Road, Bourda, yesterday morning.
According to reports, 51 year-old Mathura Narine was about to enter the store when he was confronted by a gunman. The armed man discharged a round which caused Mathura Narine to drop a haversack that contained his lunch, a cell phone and $700. The perpetrator then picked up the haversack and ran away.
Fortunately for Narine and unfortunately for the gunman, ranks of a mobile police patrol, who were alerted at the sound of the shot, responded and gave chase. The man was caught in a yard at Church and New Garden Streets.
An unlicensed .38 revolver with two live rounds and one spent shell was recovered by the police. The man is in police custody and will be charged shortly.
