Man burns girlfriend on rear and face

Troyden Reece, of 137 Albouystown, Georgetown, yesterday appeared before acting Chief Magistrate Priya Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court to answer to the charge of unlawful and malicious wounding causing grievous bodily harm.
To the charge he pleaded not guilty. He was represented by attorney a law Lawrence Harris.
According to police Corporal Venetta Pindar, Lunica James and the accused lived together and shared an intimate relationship.
Pindar said that on January 25, last, at Albouystown, the two were at home when they were involved in an argument over a text message James had received.
The accused became annoyed and took the hot electric clothes iron and pressed it on his girlfriend’s face and rear. She was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) where she was treated for her injuries.
The matter was then reported to the police and Reece was apprehended and charged.
Harris in his bail application mentioned that his client is a first time offender and on the day of the incident he and James had an argument when she accidentally sustained her injuries. The lawyer then requested that his client be released on reasonable bail. Prosecutor Pindar however did not object to bail which was set at $100,000.
The matter will be called again on February 7.
