Yet another careless accident was recorded last night on the East Coast of Demerara (ECD), this time on the Nootenzuil Public Road, which resulted in two drivers being injured and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).
According to reports, one of the injured drivers, who sustained minor injuries, was identified as 18-year-old Ryan Budhu, who was driving a Toyota Altezza, PKK 5622.
Budhu was heading in the direction of Georgetown when he tried overtaking and lost control of his vehicle, causing him to crash into an AT 192-HB 2418 and a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) PHH 9198.
Muneshwar Ramdowar, 25, who was identified as the driver of HB 2418, was taken to Cove and John Police Station along with the three damaged vehicles. The other two drivers were taken to the Hospital.
Another report suggested that the AT 192, and the SUV were travelling east along the East Coast Public Road, heading towards Berbice when one vehicle overtook the other and crashed into Budhu’s car which was proceeding in the opposite direction.
Public-spirited persons, upon hearing the noise that was caused by the accident, rushed to the aid of Budhu, who was lying in his seat, apparently unconscious. One of these persons called “Blackboy” along with the assistance of others, took Budhu into a mini-bus and drove him to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
Residents stated that the only thing that could explain the accident was that speeding was involved. The Altezza sustained the most damage.
When this newspaper arrived at the GPHC, Budhu was receiving medical treatment and was in a stable condition with no apparent serious injuries. His father told Kaieteur News that he was not aware of details of the accident since he was not present but explained that his son was “fine” with “nothing serious”.
He said that his son just “blacked-out” after such an experience, since he was protected by the air bag in his vehicle.
