More than 70 health workers on Friday, last, graduated during a ceremony at the Cara Lodge Suite after completing a two-week Information Technology (IT) course.
For those who were not computer savvy, the course allowed for the introduction to computers and trained the workers to manage files electronically.
They were also exposed to training in Microsoft Word; Microsoft Excel; Microsoft Access;Microsoft PowerPoint and Electronic Communication (the internet) as well as analysing data on both charts and tables.
The programme commenced on January 5 and concluded on January 26, with Shinauta Harvey being judged the best graduating student.
It was reported that the IT programme was opportune as it corresponded with the graduates’ working hours and it did not incur much expense to execute. Facilitators utilised a number of schools that were inactive after school hours, specifically those that were equipped with computer laboratories.
Kaieteur News understands that the programme is focused on assisting workers to deliver better health care services and ensure that record keeping is done accurately and efficiently.
