Up to press time the police were still trying to locate Malvin Taylor, 34, who shot his wife, Sharon Taylor and sister-in-law, Michelle Edwards, on Wednesday night. Taylor, an interdicted presidential guard, had accused his wife of being unfaithful. According to police, Taylor has been in contact with his relatives and has indicated that he wants to surrender.
Meanwhile, the two injured sisters remained in a stable condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital. Taylor was shot in the abdomen while Edwards received a gunshot to the face. Word from relatives yesterday stated that both Edwards and Taylor are eating, talking and responding well to the medication.
On Friday evening the police issued a wanted bulletin for the husband. Anyone with information that could lead to his arrest is asked to contact the police on telephone numbers 226-7065, 225-6940 to 2, 226-1326, 225-6411, 911 or the nearest police station, the police started in a release.
His last address was given as Lot 222 Da Silva Street, Kitty, Georgetown. Only last week, before the shooting, relatives said that Taylor had attempted to kill his wife.
According to the woman’s relatives he attempted to severely harm the woman and is currently on $30,000 bail for that offence. Kaieteur News was told that last week Sharon Taylor was forced to jump through a window in an attempt to escape from him.
Kaieteur News was told that on the night of the shooting, Malvin Taylor dropped them off at a popular fast food outlet. He reportedly did not go far and returned minutes later. It was then that he saw his wife and her sister in the company of a male individual. Kaieteur News understands that Taylor demanded that his wife get into the car, and the woman complied.
The children, her sister and the relative also entered the vehicle. This publication was told that Michelle Edwards received a text message and exited the car.
After about ten minutes, Edwards reportedly called Sharon to ask her if they could turn back and pick her up.
This publication was told that the husband then saw the same male that he had seen earlier with the women.
“Sharon exited the car and went over to her sister….and I was in the car and I saw Malvin pulling out his gun and a knife,” the relative said.
The woman said she jumped out of the car and walked briskly over to Sharon and told her what she had seen. This newspaper understands that the wife started going towards her husband when he opened fire at the male.
The husband then turned his attention to Michelle Edwards. According to the relative, Taylor pointed the gun to the woman’s head and pulled the trigger.
As the events started to unfold the relative said she hid behind another car while Sharon Taylor, whose left leg is broken, was hiding behind her husband’s car.
“She was kneeling down behind de car because she couldn’t run….and de children were in the car screaming.”
Malvin Taylor, who had also suffered a broken leg and was using crutches, then reportedly went around to the back of the car and shot his wife in the abdomen.
The man, according to eyewitnesses, drove away after shooting the two women. Taylor eventually abandoned the car in Dowding Street, Kitty, with the children.
