Human Services Ministry orders that sodomised 3 year-old be counseled

With tears in her eyes, the mother of the three-year-old boy who was sodomised two weeks ago by his 14-year-old neighbour, visited Kaieteur News yesterday to voice her dissatisfaction over the length of time the police are taking to charge the suspect.
Meanwhile, the child had since been taken to the Ministry of Human Service and Social Security for regular counseling even as his mother is accusing the police of carrying out “sloppy” investigation into the incident.
The woman said that her son’s abuser is walking “free” while her child is suffering. “I have to be running to and from the hospital and the person who abuse my baby walking free…I need justice.”
She said that every time she calls or visits the police station the police are telling her that the file is still to be taken to the Director of Public Prosecution (DDP) for advice. She feels that she is being given the “royal run a round”.
“I can’t understand why the police are dragging their foot on the incident…If it was their child; how they would react?…Who feels it knows it but I put God in charge of everything.”
On Friday, January 14, the woman left her child at home in the care of her friend and went to make some purchases. When she returned home later that day she proceeded to shower the child. It was while showering him that he told her that his “bottom” (anus) was hurting.
The woman said that she paid no attention to his cries, thinking that he probably fell and hit himself.
Her life changed abruptly after her son for the second time complained that his anus was hurting.
Upon closely examination she realised that his anus was badly bruised and was “very red”.
The three-year-old who is described as a smart and out spoken child, told his mother, “Mommy (name withheld) pushed his penis into my bottom”.
The woman said that she became nervous and disoriented and ran out of her house into the open yard nude.
The mother of the child alleged that since then, the teen’s mother had approached her with cash to “finish” the story but she had since refused to be compensated.
“My child was sodomised and she is asking me to take her money and finish the story…That is the most vindictive thing I ever heard. If he commit the crime let him face the penalty cause he would continued to do other children the same thing”.
Kaieteur News understands that the three-year-old was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) after falling sick late last week. The three year-old was diagnosed with urinary track infection a disease that is transmitted sexually.
