Police are currently investigating a drive-by shooting incident which occurred early yesterday morning at Joseph Pollydore Street, Lodge.
Kaieteur News understands that a car was driven past the house of international recording artiste, Jomo ‘Rubber Waist’ Primo, and several gunshots were fired at the building. Fortunately no one was injured during the shooting which occurred around 02:00 hours.
Reports are that a car bearing licence plates, PNN 2110, which was parked in the yard, was damaged during the incident. Sources close to the investigation have stated that at least eight gunshots were fired.
Meanwhile, when contacted, Primo said that he was thankful that no one was injured, but he is at a loss as to the motive for the unsettling incident.
According to Primo, he does not believe that the attack was directed at him since he does not have any problems with anyone.
He told this publication that the car which was damaged does not belong to him, but to a close associate of his sister.
He added that he would not speculate further as the police are still conducting investigations.
Primo said that he and other relatives were all asleep and were awakened by what sounded like gunshots.
Primo said after the noise subsided, a vehicle was heard speeding away. Checks later revealed that the sounds were indeed gunshots, aimed at their house.
“Shortly after the incident we reported the matter. The police came and did what they had to do and said they will be looking into the matter.”
The damaged car was briefly lodged at the East La Penitence Station before being released into the owner’s custody.
This newspaper was told that spent shells were recovered from the scene.
