Schools, Churches & Health Centers benefit
The Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Friday last donated items valued at $2million to a number of schools, churches and Health Centers in Region 6.
The donation was done under the club’s ‘Say Yes to Education and Sports Programme’ and their ‘Charity Outreach Campaign’.
Those receiving educational and hygiene kits were the J.C. Chandisingh Secondary School, Corentyne Comprehensive Secondary, Lower Corentyne Secondary, Port Mourant Primary and Secondary, Rose Hall Town Primary and Belvedere Primary School.
Three Nursery Schools – Savannah Park, Ankerville and Rose Hall Town received a variety of toys, play books and hygiene kits.
The Canaan Full Gospel Children’s Home received $100,000 worth of clothing along with hygiene kits and footwear. The Williamsburg and Fyrish Health Centre’s also received three boxes of new born kits for mothers attending the clinics.
Secretary/CEO of the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club, Hilbert Foster at the presentation disclosed that the donations were a joint project between the Club and the Church in an effort to get youths to stay in school and to Say No to Drugs.
Another aim is to make a positive difference in the lives of the less fortunate especially children of single parents’ households and the elderly. The long serving CEO stated that the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club understands the importance of education and as such invests heavily in assisting thousands of youths on an annual basis.
He also urged the educators present at the presentation to be positive role models to their students and to instill in them the virtues of discipline, hard work and respect for others. Foster also expressed gratitude to the Bernice Mansell Foundation and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for the support of the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club.
Charity Representative of the Church Elder Angus disclosed that they were pleased to be of assistance to the different schools and churches as part of their outreach programme.
He also praised the work of the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club and stated that the Church was pleased to be associated with the Club.
Mr. Sydney Kennard of the Canaan Full Gospel Children Home speaking on behalf of the receiving organisations expressed gratitude to both the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club and the Church for the major roles have been and continues to play in making a positive difference in the lives of youths. Kennard encouraged the Club to continue its high standard of work and wished them every success in the future.
