Dipcon carrying out $24.59M works
The long awaited re-surfacing of the Inner Circuit of the National Park, Guyana number one cycling circuit has finally commenced and is expected to be completed by this weekend.
Works commenced on Monday last and Kaieteur Sport visited the facility yesterday to catch a firsthand glimpse of progress.
Superintendant of Works, Davendra Ramnarace informed this Newspaper that on Monday, they did sand ceiling of the track which saw the workers cleaning the cracks and sanding those areas.
“We started cleaning this morning {Tuesday} after which asphalting of the circuit commenced. We’ve taken out all the roots and the bumps and we will do a good job which will complete by this weekend.”
Ramnaresh also informed that the car park located at the Northern Entrance of the National Park as well as the two entrances on Thomas Lands would also be done. All the works he said will be completed in four (4) weeks time.
There is a Tennis Court that is also located in the National Park and the possibility exists that this facility can be re-surfaced also.
In his year end Rap with Kaieteur Sport, Minister of Sport Dr. Frank Anthony had stated that monies for the total re-surfacing of the Cycling Track at the National Park were already allocated. Dipcon has been awarded the contract valued at $24.59M. (Franklin Wilson)
