The long-awaited conclusion of the Namilco Football Festival will be witnessed this Friday, at the Tucville ground.
The final will be played between Alpha United and Santos, while hosts Fruta Conquerors take on Camptown in the third place playoff starting from 18:00 hrs.
According to a release from the Organisers, unfavourable conditions that hampered preparations to the Tucville ground was the reason for the postponement of the finals which had at least two previous dates planned, but were called off.
The release added that the activity is a fund raising one for Fruta Conquerors Football Club and it started on October 23, 2010 with seventeen teams.
So far, a total of thirty nine (39) goals have been scored in the competition, at an average of 5.5 goals per match.
The leading goal scorers are Alpha’s Shevane Seaforth and Shawn Bishop with five goals each, while Devon Forde of Camptown FC is the closest to the two with four to his credit in the competition to date.
Meanwhile, the tournament was made possible through the support of the following Companies: National Milling Company of Guyana (NAMILCO), Banks DIH Limited, GT&T, Oasis Water Company, Bayridge Taxi Service that has donated One Cell Phone with $5,000 credit, Global Technology who’ve offered two computer scholarships, 2J’s General Store Regent Street, that has presented prize money for the tournament’s MVP and Junior Jewellery Robb Street that has put up one Gold Chain.
