Propping up Corbin’s shattered image

Dear Editor,
It has become quite obvious that the role of some Executive members of the PNCR is solely to defend their Leader R. H. O. Corbin. Ms. Rayman had a lot of interesting questions for Mr. Mervin and the AFC in her recent missive (Kaieteur News 24-01-11).
I am hoping Ms. Rayman would take the same time to answer some relevant questions relating to the Party’s constituents.
In a letter to Dr. Rose, Mr. Corbin said, “I wish to state categorically, however, that I will not attend any State sponsored programme for the UN Year for People of African Descent, much more speak at one, unless the expressed concerns of legitimate African Organisations are addressed.” In light of this development and apart from it, could Ms. Rayman say what are some of the activities organised by the Party to observe the Year for People of African Descent?
Could Ms. Rayman tell the public, members and supporters of the PNCR when the Party plans to go into its constituencies and have conversations with citizens on issues affecting them?
The PNCR represents the largest number of people of African descent, therefore it would be expected that the Party would be engaged in a series of activities to sensitise and educate its members and supporters of the contributions of people of African descent to Guyana throughout its history.
This is the time Ms. Rayman and other Corbin spokespersons should be using to educate young people of the contributions of their forefathers instead of trying to prop up Corbin’s shattered image.
The candidates for the Party’s presidential spot have stated that Corbin would no longer be an issue after his term has expired, therefore the least said about him, the better for the Party and the process it is now engaging in.
