Cornelia Ida recorded back to back wins when the Trophy Stall sponsored Muslim Youth Organisation Inter-Jamaat 10-overs tapeball cricket competition continued at the MYO Ground, Thomas Lands, on Sunday last.
Also notching up victories were Queenstown, Farm and Diamond Jamaats; following are the results of those matches:
Cornelia Ida invited New Mosque to take first strike and they mustered up 86-6 off their allotted overs. Fiaz Khan led with 19 with support from Toney Ramjewan and Imtiaz Alli with 14 each.
Naieem Khalil was the pick of the bowlers (2 for 10) as Cornelia Ida in reply raced to 84 for 1 off 8 overs. Vikash Dhaniram slammed an unbeaten 48 and Lincoln Leander 19*.
Against Lusignan, Cornelia Ida batted first and blasted their way to 130 for 6; Khemraj Ramsundar blasted 62 (7×6 and 2×4) while Salim Mohammed backed up with 14 (1×6 and 2×4).
Lusignan in reply could only muster 60 losing 8 wickets along the way, Asif Ali made 18. Bowling for Cornelia Ida, Amir Mohamed took 4 for 20 runs and Avinash Dhaniram 2 for 6.
LBI ‘B’ batting first against Queenstown posted 111 for 5 off their 10 overs; Imran Alli stroked an unbeaten 42, Faizul Ali made 23. For Queenstown Asif Ibrahim returned figures of 2 for 15 with one wicket each for Ravi Persaud, Majeed Khan and Dane Austin.
Needing 117 to win, Queenstown coasted to 117 for 1 off 9 overs, Fadil Ahamad 45* and Dane Austin 37* guiding their team to a comprehensive win.
Farm took to the crease first against Wales and rattled up 106 for 5 off their 10 overs. Wazim Yusuf with an undefeated 26 led the batting with god support from Ricky Sarjan (25) and Yunus Mohammed making 23.
Imran Khan (2 for 24) was the best bowler for Wales who in response were sent packing for 42 runs in 9 overs. Dane Austin was their best bat on show with 37*, no other made it to double figures.
Bowling for Farm, Junior Mark got 3 for 13, Budhan Baksh 2 for 8; Asif Mohamed, Vicky Beharry and Ricky Sarjan each took one. Diamond won via the walk over route from Mocha Arcadia.
Matches are set for today at the same venue.
