Despite all the controversy surrounding the holding of the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Demerara Cricket Board (DCB), that meeting will go ahead today at the Lusignan Community Centre from 5:00pm.
President of the DCB, Bissoondyal Singh informed Kaieteur Sport that the meeting is set for today and as was previously disclosed to this newspaper on the allocation of delegates remain the same.
Singh had sought and was granted an ex-parte injunction by Justice Ian Chang barring several other members of the board from holding any other meeting or making any other pronouncements contrary to what was agreed on at a meeting the judge had ordered.
The DCB President gave details of the happenings and informed on the AGM in a release sent to members and the media. Here is the full text of the release:
Dear Members,
Pursuant to an order by the Honourable Chief Justice (ag) Mr. Justice Ian Chang made on the 14th of January, 2011 that there shall be a meeting of the Executives of the DEMERARA CRICKET BOARD to discuss matters pertaining to the elections of Office Bearers which shall take part at the Annual General meeting on or before the 24th January, 2011 as per the said Court Order.
In keeping with the Honourable Chief Justice (ag) Mr. Justice Ian Chang order, an Executive Committee meeting of the DEMERARA CRICKET BOARD was held in the boardroom of the Guyana Cricket Board on the 17th January, 2011 and several decisions were made with respect to the holding of the Annual General Meeting.
In keeping with those decisions, notice is hereby given and you are invited to attend the Annual General Meeting of the Demerara Cricket Board on Saturday, 22nd January 2011 at the at the Lusignan Community Centre Pavilion at 17:00 hrs.
The delegates’ allocations for this AGM agreed to by the Executives at the Special Court –ordered Executive Committee meeting held on January 17th 2011 are as below:
East Bank Demerara Cricket Association – 10 delegates
East Coast Cricket Board – 16 delegates
Georgetown Cricket Association – 10 delegates
West Demerara Cricket Association – 11 delegates
You are hereby advised to disregard and ignore a Notice published on the 19th of January, 2011 and any other Notice, erroneously allocating the delegates and fixing the said meeting to take place on Saturday 22nd January, 2011 at the Wales Community Centre at 2.00pm.
