Another accident occurred on the road ways of Bartica, yesterday, around 12:45 hours at the junction of Sixth Avenue and Third Street, Bartica.
This accident involved a Bedford army type motor lorry, GLL 9300 owned by Krishnadat Persaud of Lot 39 Sixth Avenue, Bartica, and driven by 19-year-old Ameallo Boodne, and Bedford army type motor lorry, GLL 6058 owned by Ganga Persaud of Lot 160 Mongrippa Hill, Bartica, and driven by ‘`Romel’.
The vehicle GLL 9300 was travelling south along Sixth Avenue and was approaching the Third Street junction when it collided with GLL 6058 that was travelling westward along Third Street. The latter was laden with 21 drums of fuel when the collision occurred .
On impact GLL 6058 turned turtle and spilled the drums of fuel . No casualties resulted from this collision. Both drivers who were the sole occupants of the vehicles escaped without injuries.
This is the second. major road accident to occur on Bartica this month. The first occurred on New Year’s Day last when a silver coloured car some how managed to turn turtle after slamming into a wooden bridge and destroying it on Sixth Street between First Avenue and Second Avenue .
Bartica for the latter half of 2010 witnessed a series of road accidents. An eight-year-old child died as a result of one of them that involved an ATV Motorcycle .
And the Bartica Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding an altercation between two female teenage students that resulted in one receiving stab wounds about the body from a male bystander .
This incident occurred around 15:00 hours yesterday, at the junction of Fifth Street and Fourth Avenue, Bartica.
