Dr. Steve Surujbally, Chairman of the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) briefed Representatives of the Private Sector Commission (PSC) about the status of the preparations for the conduct of the General and Regional Elections 2011.
This was done at a meeting between Dr. Surujbally and the PSC representatives at a meeting on Monday at the Office of the PSC.
The meeting was held in order that the PSC could be apprised of the current status of (i) the National Identification Card distribution exercise, (ii) preparations for the conduct of Claims and Objections exercise as a prerequisite for the holding of the General and Regional Elections – 2011, and (iii) the overall preparations for the conduct of these elections.
Dr. Surujbally assured the PSC team, which was headed by Mr. Ramesh Dookhoo, Chairman of the Organisation, that GECOM is satisfied at the pace of implementation of the tasks listed in the Work Plan for the elections.
The PSC representatives expressed gratitude to Dr. Surujbally for the information received and pledged to give all possible support towards the successful conduct of the General and Regional Elections – 2011.
The PSC team included Mr. R. Rambarran – Executive Director; and Mr. Komal Ramnauth, President of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
