– Rashad Hussain leads juniors
Loris Nathoo, David Khan, former National Champion Wendell Meusa and Pierre Boucher all amassed two and a half points apiece after three rounds of intensive competition when the Trophy Stall Chess Tournament got underway at the Keishar’s Sports Club, Hadfield Street, Georgetown over the past weekend.
At the end of the day’s proceedings Nathoo led the pack by dint of the Buchollz tiebreaker system.
Nathoo played Meusa in round three and after an intense game both players conceded a draw. Khan and Boucher also played to a draw in round one while Alexander Duncan and Rodwell Poole are on two points apiece.
Errol Tiwari, Chino Chung, Haatram Parbat, Glenford Corlette and Shiv Nandalall are all nestled in the cellar on one point apiece.
Rashad Hussain dominated the junior category winning all four of his games. The wily player registered a stunning upset over Suhai Feng in round three but will have to be wary of Saeed Ali and Shane Yussuf, both on three and a half points each.
Khalid Gajraj, Anthony Drayton and Davion Mars are bundled together on three points apiece, while Feng and Raan Motilall are on two and a half points apiece.
Aslam Hussain, Raberto Neto, Joshua Pedro, Harresvera Persaud, Viddesh Shameer and Vaughn Moses are on two points apiece.
The action continues this Sunday from 10:00hrs at the same venue.
The tournament is sponsored solely by Trophy Stall of the Bourda Market and City Mall.
