Prior to last November, 25-year-old Jason Greene was a very active and skillful plumber who stopped at nothing to assist his mother and sister.
However, after experiencing eye problems Greene decided to visit the Georgetown Public Hospital where his life was changed forever. After describing his symptoms to the doctor and several blood tests, Greene was diagnosed with renal failure.
Renal failure is a serious medical condition affecting the kidneys. When a person suffers from renal failure, the kidneys are not functioning properly or no longer work at all. Renal failure can be a progressive disease or a temporary one depending on the cause and available treatment options.
Ever since his diagnosis, Greene has been hospitalised on numerous occasions and has been unable to work to assist in his home.
He is currently being treated at the 4’G Dialysis Centre. On each visit the man is required to pay $36,000 and an additional $10,000 for an injection.
This cost his mother, Sherma Greene, said, is swiftly wearing her and other family members down as it is too costly.
Hence the woman is asking members of the public to assist her with financial donations to upkeep her only son on the treatment his life depends on.
Currently Greene is hospitalised at the Georgetown Public Hospital for other medical complications he has since developed.
Ms. Greene said that she is hoping that a miracle can occur for her son as she is currently awaiting word from a specialist who is expected in Guyana some time later this week.
Ms. Greene told this newspaper that later this week she will be informed on whether or not her son would require a kidney transplant which will ease the cost for treatment he is currently on. Ms. Greene can be contacted on telephone numbers, 223-0180 or 641-3110.
