As the race to occupy the helm of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) climaxes, the presidential hopefuls are unveiling plans and objectives in an attempt to influence the votes of the various counties and clinch the premium prize.
Kaieteur Sport has been keenly observing the unfolding strategies and reporting on them to keep the nation informed of the plans and objectives of the respective aspirants. In our Friday edition we reported of the endorsement of the two principals of the Kashif and Shanghai Organisation, of the Chief Executive Officer (Sterling Products Ltd), Ramsey Ali to the presidential post. We further published the wish of the endorsing party that all aspirants fight a clean battle and refrain from adverse comments or defaming any of their competitors,
Inadvertently, we might have been guilty of the very faux pas when we reported words to the effect that ‘the letter writer, an influential individual within the cricket circles has leveled accusations of impropriety at Mr. Ali…..” We wish to categorically state that at no time did any ‘influential member’ of the cricket fraternity mentioned any act of impropriety against the Sterling Products CEO. The use of the word (impropriety) by the writer was a bad choice. Kaieteur Sport therefore wishes to express deep regrets to the CEO (Sterling Products) and any other cricket official that may have been embarrassed by our error.
