Emanie won all three of their matches to lead after the first day in the Sherwyn McKenzie Mixed Team Netball Tournament which started yesterday at the National Gymnasium.
The leading club in Guyana swept aside All Stars, Rim Rockerz and Eagles by comfortable margins to go into today’s final round of the round-robin competition as clear favourites to capture the winning trophy.
They beat All Stars 40-9 in a commanding display with Carnecia Perreira dumping in 18 goals from 40 attempts, while Angeline Dyer supported with 10 from 15.
DaCoata Lucius scored 3 goals from 6 attempts.
No player netted more than one goal for All Stars.
Emanie then defeated Eagles 21-6. Once again, C. Perreira dunked in 17 goals from 48 attempts. For Eagles, Shavana Williams was the best shooter, netting 3 goals from 10 attempts.
In their final encounter, they brushed aside Rim Rockerz 24-8.
Eagles rebounded after their lost to Emanie by earning a 24-24 tie against All Stars.
Sherwyn McKenzie led for Eagles with 10 goals from 23 attempts, while Simonica Fanfair netted 9 from 18 attempts.
All Stars then squeezed past Rim Rockerz 17-13.
S. Fanfair hit 9 goals from 19 attempts for All Stars, while Shameeza Subrattie added 5 from 13 attempts for Rim Rockerz.
Action in the tournament concludes today.
