The Editor,
I recall at a Chamber of Commerce dinner at the Pegasus Hotel a few short years ago, President Jagdeo addressing the gathering, and the Guyanese Public, regaled us all about how well the Sugar Industry was doing – it was viable and on solid ground, further there was no need for anyone to bother about its bright future.
Today we hear that the Industry is ailing, and the European Union will inject some US$3.55 billion to salvage it.
Must we believe our Head-of-State yesterday, today or tomorrow or was he misled, and, if so by who, and why?
Hamilton Green, J.P.
