Lionel D’Andrade and Alika Morgan topped the male and female categories respectively Sunday morning when they competed in the Bigi Broki Waka 10km Road Race in Suriname to complete a clean sweep from Guyanese in the gruelling event.
In the male race, D’Andrade ran an impressive 34:41 just out of the inactive Christmas Season to beat Suriname’s Vorswiju Rochini and Simison Syveryo, who had times of 35:52 and 36:05. The fourth place went to Guyanese junior, Chavez Sital (37:02).
Morgan defeated the Netherlands Antilles’, Warlet Corolien and Suriname’s Toemere Ilsida with her 41:12 time. Corolien and Ilsida had times of 41:36 and 43:49 for second and third places with Morgan chalking up her first win for the New Year.
