Wakenaam’s Sheik Ahmad was re-elected as president of the Essequibo Cricket Board when the body held its Biannual General meeting yesterday at the Cricket boards hostel at Anna Regina on the Essequibo Coast.
Ahmad gained 11 votes ahead of Alvin Johnson who got 5. Fizul Bacchus was retained as vice President while Otto Christiani replaced Linden Daniels as Secretary.
Verindra Chintamani was elected Assistant Secretary and Buddesh Chatterpaul the Treasurer.
The Assistant Treasurer is Marvin Pearson and the Public Relations Officer is Nazeer Mohamed. Anthony Murray was elected the Marketing Manager while Verna D’Aguiar is the Competition Committee Chairperson.
Travis Simon returned as the board’s Auditor and the Trustees are Jainarine Nadram and Derick Paul.
Guyana Cricket Board Secretary Anand Sanasie, who performed the duties of the Returning Officer, urged the board’s new executive to strive for the development of Essequibo cricket. Outgoing office bearers of the board, Linden Daniels and Carl Brandon, congratulated the new executive.
President Ahmad thanked Sanasie and ex-executive members of the board for their service. He also urged the new executive to work together in the best interest of the game and the area committees to play more cricket at all levels.
