Linden businessman, Albert Joseph succumbed yesterday evening at the Georgetown Public Hospital, four days after a bandit shot him in the stomach and side.
Kaieteur News understands that Joseph, known as ‘Bolo’, had taken a turn for the worse and was transferred from the High Dependency Unit
to the Intensive Care Unit.
Several relatives and associates from Linden rushed down to the hospital last night after hearing of his passing.
Joseph, the owner of Bolo’s Variety and Furniture Store on Sunflower Street, Wismar, was shot in the abdomen and left side, by a bandit who escaped with less than $10,000 and a gold chain the businessman was wearing.
Bolo’s daughter, Lauren, said she was in the cashier booth and her father was sitting outside, when this man entered the store.
She said that she heard the man order her father to hand over his valuables.
Joseph reached into his pocket, for some cash and the bandit, apparently assuming he was going for a gun, shot him.
Despite being shot, Joseph gave the robber the money and his gold chain.
The suspect is still at large.
