Hikers Hockey Club suffered mixed fortunes on opening day of this year’s Ventures Invitational Indoor Tournament being played, at the Woodbrook Youth facility in Trinidad and Tobago (T&T).
Hikers first defeated University of the West Indies 17 – 2, but slipped to a narrow 9-10 loss to Paragon in their next game.
In the opening encounter, Robert France led the scoring with 6 goals, while there were 3 apiece for Jerazeno Bell and Cornel Haywood.
Also on target were Shane Samuels with a double, while Alex Gouveia, Captain Devin Munroe and Kenny Kansanally each netted a goal.
The Hikers team comprise Captain Devin Munroe, Alex Gouveia, Robert France, who was the 3rd highest goal scorer at Pan Am 2010, Shane Samuels, Jerazeno Bell, Cornel Haywood, Kenny Kansanally, Trevon Younge, Timothy Jonas and Azad De Abreu (Goalkeeper).

Hikers finished third in last year’s competition and according to reports, the club went through rigorous preparations during the Christmas season and expects to do even better this time.
The competition which started in January 5 concludes on the 9th.
