Dear Editor,
I wanted to comment on the warm and touching letter, “ Woman – God’s most beautiful creation”, written by Maureen Singh, and published in the Kaieteur News, Thursday, December 30, 2010.
Maureen’s letter has said it very well. It touched my heart. A woman is not only beautiful, but, a woman is a companion to man given by God Almighty. She is a partner in life, and a friend.
Women are blessed with a kind heart, a sea of love, and a bundle of affection. They are, undoubtedly, a symbol of love and a pillar of strength. They are always there, like a beacon in the night. While many fathers may be guilty of shirking their parental responsibilities, mothers are making great efforts to feed, clothe and shelter their children.
Yes, women are indeed God’s most beautiful creation. Every woman should know this, and should live up to it. Women should respect themselves and demand this respect from men at all times. There are three things that bring the most happiness to a woman: marriage, a child and a home. Men should marry women, have a family and have a place to call home.
This is what life is about. At one time, women were honoured and truly respected. This was when they used to wear long dresses, long skirts, beautiful hats, and go to church. They were almost godly. Men would lift their hats to women; called them Maam, stood up to them, run around and open doors for them, and jump up and give their seats to them.
Today, sadly, things have changed. Many women have no sense of their beauty and their honour. Those long, loose fitting dresses have given way to tight fitting jeans and skimpy dresses. Natural beauty has been replaced with heavy makeup. Most women keep away from churches. They allow themselves, at a very young age, to be used and abused by undeserving men, who have no serious intentions.
It is now sex and children, and no marriage. Many women drink and smoke, and go to bars or use the internet to find a good man.
My wife and I have been married for 50 years, and we are both retired. My life would not be the same without my wife, who is my true friend, and, my true companion. She is full of strength, and is always there with my medications, my meals, my laundry, and everything else. She cleans the house, she cooks, she does the laundry, she takes out the trash, and, she is never tired. She lights up my life. I thank God everyday for my wife. I just could not live without her. She is indeed the light in our home. God bless her heart. My dear and wonderful mother was a widow for 23 years. With determination and a strong religious faith, she took on the responsibility to live alone. She overcame each and every obstacle in her own way. Like every mother, she possessed a kind and generous heart. She was loved dearly by all her children, grand children and great grand children. God bless her soul.
To the many men out there who use and abuse women, I say change your ways and begin to appreciate women, more especially, your wife and your mother.
Treat women kindly and with utmost respect, for, they are indeed, God’s most beautiful creation. To the many loose women out there who lacks self-esteem and honour, I say change your ways so that you can walk with pride, honour and respect.
You are God’s most beautiful creation. You are a blessing to men. You are the best. Maureen Singh said it, and she is right.
