The popular thoroughfare, Middle Street, Georgetown, was the scene of two more accidents as the recklessness continued among impatient and careless drivers for the new year.
The accidents occurred minutes apart, a corner away from each other, and while no one was seriously hurt, the vehicles involved sustained significant damage that could possibly run into millions of dollars.
Both accidents were apparently caused by impatience.
In the first incident, which occurred at the busy Camp and Middle Street intersection, a brand new Toyota Premio was slammed by a Toyota AE 100. The Premio ended up near the fence of Christ Church Secondary School.
One of the cars was proceeding west along Middle Street, while the other was going north on Camp Street.
Interestingly, both drivers claimed that they had the green light.
And just as the police were investigating that accident, a loud crash was heard coming from a westerly direction and upon checking it was discovered that two more cars had collided.
Union executive Carvil Duncan was proceeding west along Middle Street in his Toyota
Corolla, when the driver of a Toyota AT 212 Carina made a sudden attempt to cross the major road at Waterloo Street.
That car was knocked into a nearby ditch as a result of the collision while the front of Duncan’s car was badly damaged.
Today is the fifth day of the new year and already there have been two fatalities in addition to several serious accidents.
