Dear Editor,
Please permit me a space in your newspaper to highlight our dissatisfaction with the current construction of an ‘All-Weather’ road on the Right Bank of the Mahaicony River, between Esau and Jacob and Hyde Park Sluice.
Initially, we were told that the road was to have been constructed from Esau and Jacob to the Sluice at Hyde Park so that residents between these areas can benefit from the project. I now learn that the work will stop about sixty rods before the sluice because the money has run out. In addition, the height of the Façade Dam has been lowered, as a result of the construction, and this could cause flooding during rainy season, as the river tends to overflow easily.
I have been making repeated complaints to NDC Chairman Bisnauth and the Regional Chairman Baldeo about this matter.
I have also asked the RPA and the MMA to assist. Up to now nothing has been done.
I am now appealing to the authorities before it is too late.
