Once again I am forced to make a few comments on an event organised and managed by the Kashif & Shanghai (K&S) Organisation.
I had in the past reported on the high quality of organisational skill demonstrated by the duo (Aubrey ‘Shanghai’ Major and Kashif Muhammad) during a basketball tournament that was organised by their sons some years ago which was held, at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
It happened on the final night of competition and what I saw then really gripped my focus as one member of the organisation Kashif Muhammad stood in the parking lot at the facility directing drivers how and where to park their vehicles, making it rather easy for those choosing to leave before the event was over unproblematic access to leave the compound.
As unrelated as it may seem, this component of hosting an event is just as important as providing quality entertainment for paying patrons since any difficulty experienced during one’s attendance could have a negative effect for future consideration to be there.
Well, once again, the guys took nothing for granted and had their team out in full force offering guidance and support for supporters of the event and even though many of those patrons might not be in a privileged position like I am to publicly express their comments, I am quite certain that they were pleased with the performance of all those concerned and would have no hesitation in presenting commendations.
Another point that was forcefully emphasised was the fact that not only international competitions need the use of such a high class facility, especially for events of such stature, but more and more we are seeing the need to have a few more of such that will encourage more local organisers to lift the standard of their events or consider recruiting the tested and proven K&S Organisation.
Of course there were a few glitches on the night, but they were all negligible and caused no real alarm to warrant major attention.
There were a few issues of patrons and gate attendants not too familiar with the colour coding of the tickets that created a small amount of confusion after some fans were pointed to the wrong stand, but apart from that almost the entire proceedings went well and credit must go to the organisers for ensuring that nearly all the bases were covered.
It is worth mentioning that even in the best and biggest countries, the most meticulous plan could go awry and cause discomfort, but that was not the case for the duration of my presence which lasted for about a total of six hours.
I would not risk to comment on what obtained afterward, but I would have to say that if anything serious had occurred it would most certainly been in the dailies or on the electronic media.
This establishment certainly possesses the organisational competence to promote and run mega events and promoters thinking about pulling off serious undertakings would be well advised to sit and talk to the masters.
I can say without reservation that I haven’t attended many matches during the competition’s history and even though this could jeopardise my accreditation in the future I feel compelled to speak about my limited experience during this year’s tournament.
I felt safe taking my daughter to the final because of past experiences with events organised by the K& S Organisation, it has always been trouble free and safe for all.
Keep up the good work guys, it was a job well done and needs to be recognised.
