For five lucky senior citizens in Linden, ‘Santa’ visited on New Year’s Eve, and presented each of them with hampers packed with groceries and other goodies to help them usher in the New Year with at least good food on the table.
The five recipients, who were all women, thanked their benefactors –The Linden Fund USA (both the overseas and Guyana chapters) for their kind and thoughtful gesture.
Secretary of the Linden Fund Guyana, Stacy Teekah said she was very happy to have been a part of the whole activity which was aimed at spreading Christmas cheer to a few senior citizens, who for one reason or another, were experiencing difficult circumstances.
Teekah added that the recipients were carefully chosen after a brief analysis of their individual circumstances.
She noted that they were the best ‘picks’ and expressed her satisfaction over the entire venture.
Assistant Secretary/Treasurer Anne Ramsey said she was moved to tears after observing the heartfelt gratitude in the faces of the women
She said that she felt honored and privileged to have been one of the persons responsible for helping to put smiles on their faces. The hampers giveaway was made possible through the proceeds of a hotdog sale, which was held by the Linden Fund Guyana Chapter.
Chairman of the Linden Fund USA, Vincent Adams and Executive Board Members, Keith Semple and Gordon Alleyne, along with member of the youth group, Odetta Montague, who are all in the country for the yuletide season, also threw in their lot to help make the venture a success.
Both the Linden Fund USA and the Linden Fund Guyana Chapters expressed heartfelt gratitude to several persons who helped to make the fund raising activity and subsequent food hampers giveaways the success it was.
Special thanks were extended to Willo’s Variety, Bollers Butchery, Khan’s Butchery and Astra’s Variety-all of the Mackenzie Market and Jac’s Restaurant and Bakery and James and Sons Variety, of Republic Avenue, Mackenzie and Burnham Drive, Wismar respectively.
