– Victim died as a result of punctured lung

Ashton Peters, who fatally wounded his brother Royston Peters on Tuesday last, up to press time yesterday, was still under police guard. The man is being treated at the Georgetown Public Hospital after being transferred from the West Demerara Regional Hospital.
Peters was shot in the left leg by police during a stand-off, moments after fatally stabbing his brother.
Meanwhile, a post mortem performed on the remains of 49-year-old Royston Peters revealed that he died as a result of a punctured lung. The PM was performed yesterday by Government pathologist Dr. Vivekanand Bridgemohan.
Peters’ remains have since been handed over to relatives for burial.
On Tuesday last, Royston Peters of La Grange was stabbed by his brother after he approached him about paint which went missing from his home. After being wounded, the injured Peters staggered back to his home and was found lying in a pool of blood by two of his younger relatives. It was they who raised an alarm and summoned the police.
The injured man was taken to the West Demerara Regional Hospital where he died while receiving treatment. His assailiant was described as a nuisance to the community. He was subsequently shot by police during a standoff in Bagotville.
