The relatives of Latifah Marks are pleading with public-spirited persons to be on the lookout for the missing 15-year-old who resides in Forshaw Street, Queenstown
The Tucville Secondary School student was last seen by her relatives on Boxing Day (December 26) at the Main Big Lime. She was clad in a Black and white vest, a pair of white three-quarter pants and a black and white boots with red laces.
Marks reportedly disappeared from her cousins, who accompanied her to the Main Big Lime, while they were making way out of the crowd to go home.
The teen is said to have been living under the care of her aunt and a cousin. According to the cousin, the teen has “never pulled a stunt like this before”.
The relative who spoke with this publication said that she has also reported the matter at the Brickdam police station.
The woman disclosed that the morning after the teen’s disappearance (Monday), a female called their landline and said that, “Latifah is coming home now in a taxi”. The concerned relative said that she then asked the caller, where the teen was coming from. The relative said that at this point the female responded “from front circle” and immediately hung up the phone.
The woman said that after the call she kept looking out for the teen, however, “on to now she has not put in her appearance”.
She said that after some time had passed, and she noticed that the teen did not return, “I decided to go through a diary she had, and called every number in it”. However this was said to have been to no avail, since none of her friends could have given an account as to where she might have been.
The cousin said that in an effort to contact the person who called the morning, she went in to the Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company in order to get the number from which the call came but she was told that she cannot access same unless granted permission by the Commissioner of Police.
The woman said that the teen’s disappearance has caused much unease to the family since they do not even have a clue as to if she is in danger or just wants “to do her own thing”.
She said that all that is important at this point for them is that the teen returns home safely, and she wanted it to be made clear to her that she would not be “beaten” for her actions.
Anyone knowing the whereabouts of Latifah Marks is asked to contact the nearest Police Station or her relatives on 644-9012, 656-8294 or 231-6369.
