As part of its long-standing Christmas tradition, Ansa McAl Trading Ltd., presented gifts to ten babies who were born on Christmas Day at city hospitals. To mark the occasion of the twelfth anniversary of the “Cheekies Bundle of Joy”-presentation, Mr. Nigel Dodson, Marketing Assistant, Consumer Goods Division, ANSA McAL Trading Ltd., shared the following poem with all new mothers:
‘What a precious bundle of joy you are, cute from head to toe; You melt our hearts with your sweetness everywhere you go; You’re a special gift this Christmas sent from heaven above; A perfect little angel for all of us to love”.
Mr.Dodson, before making the presentations, said that it was his and the company’s pleasure to celebrate with the new mothers and to actively partake in the season of giving by sharing gifts from Cheekies.
Mr. Dodson then presented each mother with Cheekies hampers. The hampers included Cheekies Cloth Soft diapers, a Cheekies Growth Chart and some valuable personal care items as a personal appreciation for all new mothers. Two extra large hampers were presented to the first boy and girl at Georgetown Public Hospital.
At the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation Carina Straughn, 18; from ‘D’ Field Sophia, gave birth to her first baby, a girl at 02:40hrs; Nadia Mohamed, 21, from Supply, East Bank Demerara gave birth to her second baby girl, at 06:37hrs; and Amanda Chapel, 20, from Plantain Walk, West Bank Demerara gave birth to her first baby boy, at 08:35hrs.
Over at Balwant Singh Hospital, Padminie Prashad, 27, from Correntyne Berbice gave birth to her first baby girl, at 07:44hrs; K.V. Harris, 31; from Meadowbrook Gardens, gave birth to her second baby, a girl, at 09:15hrs and Natasha George, 28, from Eccles, East Bank Demerara, gave birth to her third child, a baby boy, at 09:30hrs.
While at the Woodland Hospital, Kanini Mangru, from Soesdyke, East Bank Demerara, gave birth to her second baby, a girl at 01:14 hrs; Jashree Deonarine, from Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo, gave birth to her first baby boy at 06:40hrs; and Nandranie Harrichan, from Good Hope, Mahaica, was in the Labour Room at press time expecting a baby girl.
However at the St. Joseph Mercy Hospital only one Christmas bundle of joy was recorded. Devika Ograsein, 33, from Non Pareil East Coast Demerara, gave birth to her fourth baby, a boy at 01:30hrs.
Also on the occasion, Dodson said that it was his pleasure to spend time with the mothers and their babies who had to be away from home on that special day.
He however noted that their joy will come when they will be able to go home with their bundle of joy to their families.
