Dear editor,
Please allow me space in the sports section of your newspaper to print this sports letter thanking you in advance.
Due to the continuous rain fall and little sponsorship, caused the first ever sixes cricket festival to be held in Linden which was scheduled for December 11 &12, 2010 organized by Sherwin “umpireawo” Graham to be canceled.
The new date for the festival is set to be run from January 29 to February 6, 2011 at four venues across Region 10.
While most people are looking forward for a happy holiday, I am wondering where will I secure sponsorship for a five hundred thousand dollars budget for this festival, where I am looking to give the First Place $75,000, Second Place $50,000 and the two losing Semi-Finalists $25,000 each.
The Region’s top sixteen teams will be taking part in this festival with the teams being places in four groups of four, where they will be playing each other at Ituni Community Centre Ground, Bayroc Community Centre Ground, Christianburg Community Centre Ground, where the top two teams of each groups qualify for the final eight to be held on Sunday February 6, 2011 at the Mackenzie Sports Club Ground.
I am looking forward to holding an official launching of this festival on January 10, 2011. So I am calling on corporate Guyana and the Government including the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, Bakewell, Demerara Distillers Limited, Ansa McAl Trading Limited, Giftland OfficeMax, Guyana Cricket Board, Demerara Cricket Board, Digicel Group (Guyana) Inc, Edward B. Beharry and Companies Limited, Guyana Telephone &Telegraph Company Limited, Banks D.I.H Limited, Bryden &Fernandes Inc, P&P Insurance Broker & Consultants Limited, Courts Guyana Inc, Guyana Oil Company, Goodwood Racing Service, Continental Food Inc, Guyana Beverage Company, Neal and Massy Groups of Companies, Hand-in-Hand Group of Companies, Barrow Restaurant & Lounge, Bolo Variety Store, Jac’s Bakery, Singh Cash & Carry Store, Republic Bank Limited, New Building Society, just to names a few business and other business establishments to please come on board and sponsor this festival the same they did for several events and sports.
I often sit wonder why it’s so hard to secure sponsorship from Corporate Guyana for cricket in Region 10.
The contact numbers are cell# 622-5961/689-3728, Office 444-2735, Home 442-1960. Please help me make this festival a full success for 2011 and beyond.
