The Central Police station in Cobourg Street New Amsterdam was in uproar on Monday when the cops arrested their fellow disciplined service organizations after some initial intense battles.
The occasion was the police end of year Inter services domino competition and brought an end to the Central Police station Sport and community year of activities. The games were played at the Central Police station recreational Hall. The teams involved were Host Police, Fire and Prison Services combine, New Amsterdam Constabulary and guest team Olderndorf Shipping.
In the intensity that followed Constabulary bowed out early as they could not make it past the first rounds.
In the final the cops with 78 games destroyed Olderndorf Shipping who lost their way and failed to deliver with 68 games while the Fire and Prison outfit were badly out of order as they finished with 67 games.
The lawmen’s assault was led by Sergeant Godfrey Plater with 17 games, Quacy Calder scored 15 games while Inspector Satrohan Dayaram and Junior Vanooten scored 14 games each. The other members of the winning police team were corporals Mervin Mentore and Wayne Carr and Anthony Scipio. The received the University of Guyana Berbice campus Trophy which was presented by Director Professor Dizal Samad.
For Olderndorf Wayne King made 14 games while Shawn Crawford also with 14 was the top marker for the Fire and Prison service.
The second and third place teams received trophies compliments of DDL and Imran Haniff. Godfrey Plater for his outstanding play was adjudged the Most Valuable Player and walked away with the Sukhpaul gas Station and Business Enterprise Trophy.
The activity was coordinated by Station Sergeant Jairam Ramlakhan coordinator of the Police Sports, community and outreach programme.
