Scrutineers who are currently involved in the continuous registration process, in Region Two, have complained of not being paid for the month of November.
This newspaper was informed that ever since the commencement of the House-to-House registration procedure, in 2008, which was later followed by the Claims and Objection process, scrutineers have experienced the problem of not being paid efficiently.
According to one of the scrutineer, he said that two weeks prior, GECOM, workers received payments. “We are being treated as aliens, these people do not have any regards for the hours we put in, most of us have to travel every day and in the evenings, transportation costs are extremely y costly.”
Not to by pass anyone, the scrutineer, who requested anonymity, said that he approached the deputy chief Scrutineer, Ms. Doreen Duncan, who said that she did not receive any word. Another call was forwarded to the Chief Scrurtineerr of the PNCR, Ms. Amna Ally, who also responded in the negative.
The determined scrutineer said that a final inquiry was made to the Registration Officer, in Region Two, Mrs Roxanne Smith, who said that
she neither has any knowledge of when scrutineers would be paid. Scrutineers who are aligned to the various political parties in Region Two are calling on the relevant authorities to speed up their investigations as to why they have not being paid for November month. “We have to eat, wear, travel and would want to have an enjoyable Christmas Holiday like anyone else,” one scrutineer, lament.
