National race walk champion, Rudolph Mitchell continued to dominate the race walking arena, adding the P&P Insurance trophy to his vast collection when the Cavalier Sports and Tour Club (CS&TC) staged the ‘Last Lap Race Walk’ around the Soesdyke Community last Sunday December 19.
Jeremy Cornelius came in second while Kenneth Singh sealed off the final podium spot. Fifteen competitors graced the starting line.
The race was the final senior event on the CS&TC yearly calendar with the final event, ‘The Last Lap 10K Junior Race’ concluding yesterday morning, also around the Soesdyke community. In that race Malcolm Harry finished in the first place while Josh Bunbury finished second. Anthony McLean finished in the third place. The trophies for the senior race were donated by P&P Insurance Brokers while Mr. Wesley Kirton donated the trophies for the juniors.
These two races capped off the season and the organizers have said that they have already started to plan the itinerary for the coming year.
