Bid for Generation Plant foundation exceeds engineer’s estimate by $89M

The National Procurement and Tender Administration Board yesterday received a bid for the construction of the foundation for a 15.6MW Wartsila Generation Plant at Kingston, which was $89M more than the engineer’s estimate.

The estimate is $120,784,220 and the bids submitted:

Bids were also opened for the supply and delivery of household appliances for the Ministry of Education under the TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) Programme.

Three new police outposts will soon be constructed once the bids have been evaluated.

One of the outposts will be built at Aranka for which the estimate is $10,975,516, another at St Cuthbert’s Mission which is estimated to cost $9,902,555 and one in Amelia’s Ward which is estimated to cost $9,801,924.

Bids were also opened for the Rehabilitation of a road at St Ignatius in Region One for the Ministry of Public Works.

The engineer’s estimate is $21,996,556 and there was a lone bidder, Vevakanand Dalip, whose bid was for $26,811,975.

Works to the Beremichi Airstrip also attracted bids. The engineer’s estimate is $50, 980, 675.
